Video Game Starter Pack
What began as a playful ramble on my video game favourites evolved into a personal project [and accountability mission] to play at least 10 video games in one year.
What does that really do?
It doesn’t conventionally seem like something tedious since the action itself is described as ‘play’. But my mission here is to almost study it as much as just experience or enjoy it. And not to say that it becomes a chore then, but now I reflect on some of the technical processes that make a video game engaging or well-rated [even in just my personal books].
With an existing inclination toward narrative design, I was advised by someone in the industry to try this out as a first step. Specifically, in a way that ensures I have the rigour to play and the skill to observe and analyse how that interplays with the user experience.
But outside of that, something I’m trying to achieve here is also accessibility. To use myself as an example that amplifies the idea that gaming isn’t a niche or hobby exclusive to those with the so-called correct contraptions, skills and money.
It’s simply for anyone who loves stories.
